You're my hero! Have you figured out a way to use it with your car on the lift? My car isn't even lowered, but 6.5" is too tall to lift at the proper points.

Nope. I used it on a buddy's lowered S2000 no problem but mine only has 4.5" clearance under the crossmember so the air bag jack won't fit. I think that Black Jack ( I've seen similar scissors jacks) will work though.
I found this one, made of 7075 T6 billet aluminum, closes down to 1.5" and has a lifting capacity of 1,000#...but, I can't bring myself to spend almost $300 for it...
Yes that is just like the bag jack I bought, but from someone else. There is a post that explains how to make wooden ramps. Please do a search on it. I made similar low ramps using 2 2x12 pieces of wood. It gives me an extra 3" of lift so I drive up on them and use my bag jack.
When using the four post lift, my jack trays hang down below the lift, I drop the jack in place, slide it under the car, with a few inches to spare. Also it's a good place to store it. We bought a new digital camera. When I figure it out I will post pics of the set up. David
Take a buddy. Hey, you know me and I wouldn't have bought one without a good reason. When you came to my house I think I only had two cars. Didn't really need a lift except to play on the car with, right? Well, I have three cars now and live in Indiana but still have a two-car garage. For a good part of my first year here, it sucked getting in a cold or wet car to go to work in the morning since I had to park the dd outside.
I always wanted a lift but I couldn't store a car long-term on a two-poster, plus, I don't have a high-enough ceiling for one. The four-poster meets my needs very nicely. It allows me to keep three cars in my garage so I always get in a warm, dry car in the morning. Plus, I can use the lift to do all sorts of work on the car. The inconvenience of having to jack the car to work on the wheels/suspension is not a big deal at all and I tend to work on other parts of the car more anyway. There are pretty easy ways to raise the car on the lift including the air jack, bottle jacks, scissor jacks, etc. and it's not a big deal. I'm about to do a diff/TC/header job on Carole's A4 C5 and it will not be a problem at all on the lift. I've done it before on a four-poster and it was very easy. Maybe not quite as easy as on a two-poster but a heck of a lot easier than on jack stands.
Think about why foru-posters are so popular. They are moveable, they require lower ceiling clearance (generally), they allow you to park a car underneath and they come in several sizes and capacity. It all comes down to what you really need and what makes the most sense. I could have bought a two-poster - but I would have still been scraping ice and snow off the cold dd for the foreseeable future. I think I'll keep my four-poster. Peace, my friend. Hope all is well with you and your's.
For the life of me I don't know why anyone would buy a two post lift. Since you don't know me or how or why I have a lift I find your comments offensive. BTW, your post was very helpful.................NOT
I'm sorry. I had no idea that I violated your Constitutional Right not to be offended.
Let me help by saying that no, I don't know you...and I find that a real joy.

Hi Patches. Good to hear from you as well and that's a good point. If storing that third car in a two car garage is the reason, then you've answered the question....although I was under the impression you could do that with a two poster as well.
But as for you, those lucky guys in Illinois should pitch in and just buy you a garage so you could help them out all the time!
If you're thinking about buying a four post lift, I bought a second jacking tray so I can have all the weels off at one time. It was much cheaper having them package and ship it with the lift.
i have th rj3500 it is sweet to say the least , but i've added a twist i added an air-hydraulic , it is easier than the standard hydraulic jacking system that came with it . i think i have pics if you need you can send me a pm

I'm happy I could add joy to the life of one so angry within himself. Your post offered nothing to the topic or my question. It's only purpose was to shove your uninvited opinion upon me and others on why everyone should have a 2 post lift such as yours.
For the helpful posts with insightful suggestions. I bought the Rak Jak air bag lift and it works perfect. Fast, smooth and solid. Paid $379 for it. I see there are other bags cheaper and don't know if the one I bought is of better quality or not. Since I already have it I'll keep it.

You know slick, this is a public board. You're going to read all sorts of "uninvited opinions" here. If it really bothers you so much, I suggest you use private messages or e-mail.
This is really simple. If you don't like what someone posts, skip it and go to the next one.
You know Skippy, I see your still having problems controlling that inner anger and you should take your own advice.
This is really simple. If you don't like what lift someone has you should just Skippy it and go to the next thread.
OK Skippy, I'm done. I've gotten the helpful suggestions I was looking for from others. You can have the last word as I'm sure that your the type that always has to have the last word and I don't want to add to your anger. Although sparring with you has been fun it hasn't been very challenging.
you know jack i bought a 4 poster and love it , my buddy thought i should get a 2 post , well the problem was that i was buying it and not him . i use mine for eveything from working on my lawnmowers to helping remove the camper shell from my truck , which you can not do with a 2 poster . just my .02 and by the way nouman , shannon , jon and all the rest of my buddies love my 4 poster .

Ahhhh but I had MY 4 poster first!!
WHY did I buy a 4 poster??? Same reason as Patches... Car storage... I currently have a over sized 2 car garage with 11 foot ceilings and I thought what a neat way to add a stall!! I did two years ago this fall and LOVE it...
It gets better....
I'm building an 1100+ sq. foot garage (4 and 1/2 cars PLUS) and I STILL will use my 4 poster to store the Vette!! 12 foot ceilings this time!!
I suppose I could add a 2 poster but that'd be overkill!!
Don't worry, be happy and just be nice to folks...
If you're referring to the air bag jack, it clears the Mustang but not the vette. It's 5" high so no go on my C5's. Another company sells a lower profile version for a lot more but that would only fit under the crossmembers on mine but not the sides.
