Default Driver side hvac actuator 2000 cpe

I have got this hot on the left and cold on the right again. Have had the freon checked and a little added. I have previously reindexed the door, but when i tried today ,i cleared the codes to force a reset of the actuator doors and it made no difference. I then hooked the actuator to the connector but did not put it back on the airbox, so i could watch what it was doing, and when i reset, the actuator did nothing.Since the actuator was not moving at all,i set it to hold the door in the cool position. Do any of you guys know the test procedure for a bad actuator or a bad head unit? Any help will be much appreciated.

It depends on the type of climate control you have, manual or automatic. I did see in the information that the TECH II scan tool was needed.

Zimbo,
My hat off to you for trying this repair yourself. This forum has helped me fixed 3 things on my own. For what it is worth, I had a similar problem where in my case, the passenger side blew piping hot while the driver side was cold when A/C was turned on. Not having your courage at the time, I took it to the stealership. They told me it was a bad HVAC actuator door. The actuator door was $200 and the labor was $500. That experience motivated me to get the 3 volume set service manuals. As Gene pointed out, the diagnosis procedure does call out for use of a Tech II scan tool. I wanted to buy that tool, but sadly, when I discussed it last on this board, I learned it is about $5000.

In light of the cost of the scan tool, I wonder if you should roll the dice and buy the actuator door... Hopefully, some more knowledgeable members will chime in on this...

Did you disconnect the battery? Doing so will re-index the doors. If that doesn't work, unfortunately, you may need to replace the actuator.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, a service manual might not be a bad idea.

Good luck.

Default Thanks guys

Sorry for the delay in replying guys but have been doing a couple of 12hr days + company visiting. As usual the forum helps out. Gene, it is the auto climate control and the code im getting is B0441. If that is the actuator , please shoot me an email with a price for one shipped to 97042. Thanks again.
