Default Question about HRE's and tire sensors

yesterday I purchased a set of hre's from a member here locally and went to discount tire to get them on.The guys at discount tire took the wheels off the old tires and they told me I couldn't put the wheels on my stock tires(the wheels are a perfect stock c5 replacement) because 2 of the tire sensors were missing. It turns out the stock tire sensors on a c5 cannot fit into these hre's because the valve stem hole is too large and when the seller I bought them from called HRE and he said all C5's are like this.My question is, is this true?It turns out on the two hre's the sensors are on now, they have been fabricated on.

I am in need of help please....

Which HRE's do you have? I have the 847R's with OEM wheel sensors. Love the HRE's!

If the sensors will not fit for whatever reason - they can be clamped with a band and "siliconed" in place inside the wheel, and then use a regular valve stem. But as far as I knew - all valve stems are the same diameter. You might need new washers and nuts to hold them.

My iForged wheel have the sensors in going through the hole in the back, but are clamped in place in the front because the valve stem was about 1/16" too long and made contact with the caliper.

I have a set of HRE 540's and my sensors were epoxied to the wheel. The stems of the senors were cut off. The stems on the sensors are larger than the valve stems on the HRE's. The stems won't fit through the whole. I don't run any sensors on my Iforged's.

You cannot use the OEM TPS's,you need them banded in or epoxied as stated.Don't use Discount tire they're a bunch of butchers on custom wheels.Have had a few friends have the same problem with them and custom wheels.Know a couple good shops in North Houston,if you need them.jerry

Many of the HRE wheels WILL NOT accept TPS as replacements for the valve stems.

However - this is easily remedied by getting (from HRE) the 'bands' for the size wheel(s) where TPS are needed.
