At the first of this year I made the jump from many years of owning Z28's and TA's and now realize what I have been missing. I love my Vette. I feel it is an incredible car. However...........I do miss the deep throaty sound of the LT1. I went with a full catback system including X-pipe fearing the dreaded drone. I love being able to speak at a comfortable level and hear some fine tunes, but still would like a bit of authority on acceleration. System now is great, but sounds too much like a lotus. Thank you for your suggestions. PS. also love the looks of the quad tips. Guess I want my cake, want it sliced and served and to eat it too!
B&B Bullets - and Dynatech Long Tube headers, x-pipe and Hi-Flow Cats gives me a commanding ~130dB at WOT bark, and it is still quiet enough inside to have a conversation, or play music on the freeway. I find the road and wind noise to be louder than the exhaust note while on the freeway...
PLEASE do not misunderstand, no way do I miss the opti-%#@*&, just the nice rumble. Growing up with SS Chevelle's, Nova's, GTO's and now this Vette has brought out the youth in me again, and I LIKE IT!!!!
I have the Magnaflow catback, too, and it's perfect for me. However, I also have headers/ heads/cam, and no cats! These things really make a difference. Sounds like Corsa Pace cars would work for you. Quiet during cruise, but much louder than the Magnaflows during acceleration, and no resonance.

When GM created the LS1 they changed the firing order from 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 to 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. Not sure why but the original firing order of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 had been around since the original 265ci small block was introduced in 1955.
The LS1 just doesn't sound quite as "throaty" as the older Chevy V8's in my opinion. But, it sure does perform better!

Could also be that the LT1s were iron blocks and that makes a world of difference in sound too.
Won't exhaust systems dumped too near the fiberglass spring cause too much heat to get to it and thus weaken it causing spring failure? Had a buddy who dumped his like that and his spring busted in no time.
I totally agree the LT1 stock Z-28 had a very bad sound. It was a mean snarl with just a small hit on the throttle. I lost count of the people who asked me what aftermarket exhaust system I had put on the Z-28. Many did not believe me when I told them it was bone stock.
The best part of the system was there was no resonance at any speed, not roar at high RPM, just a great all around sound.
I will agree the performance of the LS1 is superior to the LT1. Numbers or seat of the pants will prove that.
You really need down-turned dumps like in the second pic. I don't have to worry about it though because I have coil overs. It can be made to work with any of the systems pictured. If you aren't comfortable with those pictured there is the one I have been running for the past couple of years without any issues. It's made by Streetpro.us and it's different than any other.
