Gearshift effort/function notes, comments
I have an '04 Coupe with 36K miles and a B&M ripper shifter. It shifts great, but with a lot of effort, and I notice a downshift to fourth takes the most effort of all. Is this a characteristic of the tranny? All gears go in perfectly and stay in, but you can't pussyfoot around especially downshifting to fourth, a firm, stiff, jerk is required. Anyone notice the same thing? The shifter is adjusted perfectly, has this something to do with the upgraded carbon fiber synchronizers used on later models?

Black 'n Tan, you didn't mention the status of your transmission fluid.
If you're still running the original fill at 36K miles, changing it will usually bring improved smoothness to the shifts, even with the Ripper.
