Default Service ABS

I got an ABS brake issue. A couple days ago the ABS light and service message came on. The next time I started it, the issue was gone. Well it came back as fast as it went away.

BBA Remaanufacture offers a Corvette ABS controller repair for $325 with a life time warranty. They talk diag code 1214 or solenoid fault. I am planning on checking error codes Monday, and follow up with a repair with BBA.

Any thoughts on this?? Thanks, Brad

Don't jump on an EBCM repair so fast. There are several things that can cause the ABS system to fail and they do not require a module repair.

The DTC codes will help pinpoint what the problem is. There are many components to the ABS system, such as the wheel speed sensors. A failure of a sensor will cause the "SERVICE ABS" message to appear, so as Bill says, don't assume it is the EBCM that is causing the problem. Read the codes, post them in this thread, and someone will be able to help you figure out the problem and how to fix it.

I wouldn't leap to the conclusion it's bad either. My C5 Z06 went a little haywire and reported every fault it could think of when the car only had a few thousand on the clock. What it was turned out to be a low battery which tends to send the computer a little crazy. Others have had it too. I bought a battery tender to keep the battery full and never had a problem ever again and I all lived happily ever after. The end.

I read the codes - maybe someone can assist on what this means for my ABS problem:

10 - PCM 1 codes
A0-RDCM 2 codes
A1-RDCM 2 codes

28-TCS 1 codes

Thanks, Brad

Brad, we need to see the actual codes ... the DTC codes look like ...

C9999H

The first letter will be either a P,C,B or U (Powertrain, Chassis, Body or Communications)

Then there will be FOUR numbers ... 0300 ... 1214 ... whatever

Finally there will be either an H or a C (or sometimes both)

This indicates whether the failure is Current, or a History record

Give us the ENTIRE code ... the TCS codes are the most likely to show the problem, but post all unless they start with a U .... those you can delete.

For instructions on displaying codes ... go here ....

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=26&TopicID=1

Look forward to the list ....

LuS1fer - I think you called it. I replaced my battery, and my ABS issue appears to be gone. Several days later, many starts and re-starts and a couple hundred miles -

Thanks guys for the input.

Default 1998 Corvette - ABS warning light

I, too, have a problem with the ABS warning light coming on intermittantly and staying on for periods of time. The diagnostic codes that displayed are:

AO LDCM B2282H
AO LDCM B2284H
AO LDCM B0851H
28 TCS C1243H

Can anyone help diagnose the problem from this information?

Thanks,
Nancy

BlackZ06/all:

My buddy has a HP Tunner and we just read the DTC.

Brake C1214
System Relay Contact, or Coil Circuit Open (history)

My thoughts are the brake controller or hub sensors. ???????

Bracati,

First, you didn't need your buddy to read the codes ... I gave you instructons in a previous post (#9) on how the C5 will display the codes on the DIC .... try reading and fllowing what people post here ....

Search is your friend on the forums .... if you did a search for this code you would find MANY threads that will help you resolve this ... such as ...

Nansusm,

This is called "hijacking" a thread ... you should post this in your own thread ... but real quickly ....

C1243 is when the BPMV motor has stalled ..... the BPMV needs to serviced/replaced

Again, SEARCH is your friend here on the forums ... take a look at ...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1560308585

For more on this DTC.

Default End of Chapter

ABSFIXER was the ticket

I removed the EBCM with the C1214 code. I shipped this to ABSfixer with a Paypal payment of $158.00.

When I returned from vacation, my module was at my house UPS delivered.

I installed the EBCM, plugged it in, and lowered the car. Fired up, and NO more ABS errors.

SWEET! Easy! Highly recommend these guys.

Thanks to all for eariler input and most of all ABSFIXER.
