I have asked this question buried in a couple previous threads before, but has anyone with a "C5" actually purchased one of these?

I haven't ever really read anything good about them. Bad, a few, but never any good. FWIW.

I bought one and returned it a week later. Quality was very good. Warranty was nice. The fit was to the reason I returned it. I couldn't get it to stop snapping and popping and leaking. The snapping and popping I could have dealt with, but the leaking (my car does get driven in the rain often) is the real reason I returned it.

It is a hit or miss, they gaurantee that it will not crack of peal like the OEM does, that was another reason why I choose them.

I do recommend getting the smoked shade screen they have ($35), it is already pre-tinted, but it will still allow alot of light (sun = heat) into the car without it.

I'd find a OEM top on E-Bay. They're on there all the time!

I had a bad experence with them. I sent a top to the as a core return where it only had some scratches in it and they told me it would be worth $175,00. After I sent it to them they only paid $75.00. They can not be trusted.

They are the offical licensed OEM from GM.

Haven't heard anything good from astro, at least from the C4 side of things.

I received a very fair quote from Gene at GMPARTSHOUSE today.

I am pretty sure I will go with that since I have had nothing but positive experiences with him on several other orders in the past year - surprised I did not think of him sooner on this item.

I bought one from them about a year ago. The fit is not what we as corvette owners are looking for. They installed it for me at a show, and said it would need adjusting in a few months, to help with fit. To answer you question, "NO I WOULD NOT BUY FROM THEM"

Well, what I mean by that and what they mean is that it will not show hairline cracks or peal the way the OEM is known to do. Now, there warranty is only good for a year and how many of your tops have pealed before the year is up? I just wasn't pleased with the fit.

To be perfectly honest , I am not pleased with any of it ..... The fit , The leaks , The poor construction , nor The popping and crackling . I spoke with the guy on the phone and he assured me of how much better they were now as opposed to before .

I just hate that I wasted $400 on such a piece of JUNK !

Neither was I to be honest, that is why I returned and got my refund.

Best bet is to just buy a decent used one here on the forum.

To answer your question on a technicality... I own a C5 now, but ordered an Astro top (sent my core) for a C4 when I owned a 92. It looked original, fit perfectly and was a lot less money. Reading the other posts on here, I guess I got lucky. Good luck whichever way you go.
