Hello Forum members,
Can anyone tell me the size on a 1996 Corvette space saver spare tire. And has anyone had any luck using a 1996 spare on a C5. Thanks in advance Green Flash
From your own experience, will triple A bring a tire in a specific C5 size to help you in a remote location, or will they simply tow your car to the nearest location to wait for a tire to be delivered?
The Z06 kit is good if all you need is air and a plug. If it is a sidewall or more serious issue, you will be stuck again.
I like a plug kit and compressor for daily driving, and add the GTO spare and a small jack for long trips. I feel like I am more in charge of my destiny this way.
I bought my GTO spare from Cleveland Pick-A-Part (google them).

Well I have never had a flat in the vette(knocking on wood).
I have BCAA which is the same as AAA and they will tow my car I think it is 100 miles for free because of my membership.

They will tow it. I got 2 flats at the same time going down a highway. No patch or plug would have helped me either. The hole in the tire was big enough for me to easily stick my finger in. AAA just towed me home.
When fitting spare tires on a C5, remember the rear spare tire must be the same diameter or else your positraction differential will burn up the clutches.

This is what I keep thinkng about when i hear people looking for spares. You can use a rear size tire on the front, but I don;t recommend using a front size on the rear.
Actually, now that I think about it, does it matter with the independent rear suspension?

I am going to have my Z in Ontario for a few days in late September - so that is why I bought the GTO spare.
Like you, I have not yet experienced a flat in a vette on the road -.....and hoping to stay in that club lol.

Hi AMRAAM -
It will be fine - for emergency only.
You will be able to tell on acceleration, but for an emergency case it will be fine -
when i was at walmart the other day they had a compressor and "slime" kit for 20 bucks, comes in a little case, smaller then the z06 kit, if my car wasnt a z06 that came with the kit already i probably would have picked it up
