I felt rough idle and the Mechanic's scanner said i have a periodic misfire on cyl #1. I suspected a bad plug or spark plug connection and took it home to check (not wanting to pay for additional labor costs for somthing i could look at) The plug and connection were both normal.
Both plugs and wires were changed in April:
- NGK Tr-55 copper plugs
- GM performance SP wires
I suspected the fuel injectors might be clogged so i ran a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. I still have the misfire and now it's more frequent.
Questions:
a) does this sound like an injector problem
b) should I attempt to have the injectors cleaned or purchase new ones?
c) How difficult is an injector swap?
Where the NGKs the screw on tip types? or the fixed? I had numerous problems with those plugs because the tip would loosen causing a bad relay/spark/whatever you want to call it.
Not sure if that will help, but maybe check that and it is possible that a plug where backout a little, that has happen to me too and this is caused by not ensuring they were snapped in place properly.
Had a couple go out on my F-Bodies in the past. One failed slowly, started out missing and then it would be fine, off and on for a while.
The second one just quit...
Easy to test, as suggested above, just more it to another spot...

I don't have the scanner my mechanic has so i can't tell which cylinder is doing the missing. Does the Basic OBDII meter at auto zone haev this ability?
Also how much does a replacement coil cost these days?
The longer you drive it the more damage you are causing to the catalytic converter. Unburned fuel and catalytic converters don't mix. I would pay to get it fixed or plan on buying a converter also...
