Inspired by a member here who made his own catch can. I figured why not try it myself? If it doesn't work, then I'll buy one from one of our loving vendors But if it does, just save myself some dough. I know it's not the best looking engine bay with a weird looking Air compressor water filter but I'm not here to beautify my engine bay -just too much work, from now on, I want it to be more functional- beautification is for the exterior and interior of the car and not the engine bay IMHO -that's another reason why I'm selling my brand new Chromed airbridge ( see parts for sale section ) And here are some pics. For those interested. I can give you the part numbers and parts you can buy from LOWE's or Home Depot but I find LOWE's to be more complete for a one stop shop.
BTW -I'm going to go ahead and drive it for about 2 weeks see if I "catch" anything
PICS
Tubing reinstalled to the right holes and pics update -thanks guys -so far only 8 people think I'm stupid But for the rest of the world -check your connections and pics on the install sheet before installing them.
what is this part# that you are using? is there a name for this "catch can" thanks
A few vendors here are selling these PCV Catch cans. But I made my own using an aircompressor water filter in which you need to make some simple modification before you can install it. This is what I bought from LOWE's
Pm'd you, if you by chance you do this, make sure to seal the black valve at the bottom of the pic is sealed with high temp silicone sealant. Also remove the paper filter and the plastic piece that looks like a gear inside the filter and assemble each part and you should be good to go.
Ok guys - my brother in law who's a mechanical engineer and works for Caterpillar saw what I did and thinks that the air compressor filter is most likely not adequate for the job. And most of the time he's right, so I took mine off and put the stock tubing back on. So for everybody who's going to be doing this - please think before doing this mod.
