what is a good size cam for the Z06.... dont want nothing to crazy but i am looking for 430 RWHP with long tubes, intake, off road x pipe, and tune.... Please post up some numbers if u got them....Thanks.
To get there your going to need something in the G5X3 range plus all the bolts ons. Add an underdrive pulley to your list as well and you should be around 430 rwhp. See my Sig.
the purported X3 specs: 234/242, .600/.612

i have heard that is a crazy huge cam... dont really want to get crazy like that because i do drive my car everyday. dont u run into piston to valve clearance with that cam set up????
DAMN i like that idle what is the cam spec if u dont mind..... 230's? .600 lift????
We ordered the ECS cam for our Camaro after the great things it was doing in Z06s. Based on the vacuum seen while tuning the car, the Cam is in the TRex range low to mid 240s and probably mid .600s on lift...

Maybe Chris or Doug will chime in but I'm gonna say no way to that. I've seen this cam in a few cars and I can't imagine it being that big.

Well it wasn't cam doctored, this is just based on the vacuum available for the brake booster, etc. seen while tuning the car with EFI Live. It had similar characteristics to a TRex...
Get a better head, use less cam and drive the thing anywhere with a nice idle....Not to say the above one doesnt sound downright badass...Youll make more power though.
just curious if the timing chain needs upgrading??? i know on the LS1's they are updated becaus ethey are a cast powder type....any info on that.....
As a kit, they change the timing chain to double roller, under drive pulley, bigger oil pump, titanium retainers, comp 921 springs, new belts, t-stat, and of course Doug's tuning.
Isn't that big, its in my car and I'm at 430rwhp cam only. Get it, you won't reget it.
Well, I am not going to argue, just say that it is possible we received a totally different cam. Basically I just called ECS and told them what we wanted to do and what car it was going into and they sent us a cam. *shrug*
Your cam may not be that big, but I assure you ours is.
With the bolt-ons mentioned (plus underdrive pulley) and a TSP cam, I got 433 RWHP/400 RWTQ. TSP 233/239 on a 113 LSA, right around .600" lift, which is ONE step below their popular Magic Stick 3 (ground for Texas Speed by Comp Cams).
Car idles at 900 RPM, some noticeable lope/shake, but completely driveable as this is my everyday car (2001 Z06). Certainly not a tame cam, but not yet getting 'crazy'.
From what I understand, the majority of Texas Speed's and LG's cams are specifically designed to operate in 'CAM ONLY' LS1/6 engines with no "valve to piston" interference (stock heads/gaskets, block/pistons, etc.).
