Default Dumb Question

There is a black frame around the back license plate. How do you get that off? Taking the bolts off the please only makes the plate loose.

If you look on the inside part of the sides of the license plate surround. You'll see a couple of rectangular holes or cutouts, insert a fairly large flathead screwdriver push a little bit on the screw and make a twisting motion of the screw driver until you hear or feel a pop or click just don't push on the screw driver too hard or you may break the tab -do it on all 4 holes and you should be able to pull the surround with ease.

Just to clarify a little, push the screwdriver into the little rectangular holes and push away from the inside of the frame toward the outside. Not the screw, but the 4 rectangular holes in the plastic frame. Good luck.

Took a little time for me too when I bought it. Finally got it. Not a dumb question.

Do like I did, duct tape the new plate over the old one. It gets a bit thick after a while but it gives the rear end more weight thus better traction.

BTW, yes, it does feel like you're going to break it, no, you won't.

No, I would take it all the way off. You may break the tabs pulling it away trying to get the tag out. Also with the frame off you can see how it goes together. It just snaps back, but it's easier to push on the tabs with your finger to clear the tag and line it up with the holes when putting it back on.
