Wife and I did it. We picked up a 2002 Z06 with 14000 miles on it. Paid $30000.00 for it. Thought that was fair. Car if perfect. Smells like new. Quicksilver with black interior. Anything you guys can think of that I should do or check on the car to make sure everything is tight and cherry? Car seems to be sound and like new.
Read up on the column lock issue, see if any of the recalls have been performed on the car (provide your VIN to a dealer and they can check the service history).
If none of the recalls have been done, DO NOT LET THEM DO ANY OF THEM! Purchase a Column Lock Bypass kit (CLB) from a forum vendor for about $50 and install it yourself, it is very easy. I will supply a link for you to refer to.
You may get different opinions on this issue but I believe the majority of people here feel the CLB is the way to go and not the recall. There have been many problems with the recalls and they might reprogram your computer to cut the fuel off if it detecks a problem with your steering lock whether real or perceived. Some dealers are also installing faulty k harnesses. I installed my CLB right after I purchased my Z06 from the dealer and have never had an issue with the column lock.
Search the forum before you buy anything, I could have saved a couple hundred dollars if I would have searched for the climate control issue. My display didn't work when I bought mine and I bought a new one and could have just taken it apart and resoldered the connections.
Also, there is a sponsor that gives good discounts for gm parts if you need any.
