front air bag cover needs replacing, Help

My front airbag cover has a big scratch and is very noticeable. has anyone ever replaced one and can you do it your self .thanks

I would sacrafice someone else's face and head when replacing anything to do with or around an air bag.

Are you talking about the passenger side bag ... the one with CORVETTE embossed in the cover? If so, you have to replace the airbag module as the cover is an integral part of the module and cannot be replaced seperately.

I believe the part number you need is PROBABLY 10415724 ..... for your 2001 ...

Be CERTAIN to follow instructions for working on the airbag system. Post for instructions if you don't have them, as the SIR (airbag) system can be VERY dangerous to work on. Also, even if an unexpected inflation doesn't hurt you, it can do a lot of damage to the car.

As a follow on ... if you're talking about the steering wheel (drivers) air bag ... the same is true ... the cover is an integral part of the system and cannot be ordered seperately.

Try part number 10324094 for your 2001.
