Put some seals on those tailights. Southern car parts sells them and you can find them on ebay for around $15.
You can buy everything you need for less than $10 at a hardware store. I bought 6 of the 1" spacers and 2 of the 3/4" spacers. The two outside rear lights take the 3/4" spacer to make them look right. You will need to pick up some 2" wood screws to replace your stock screws for the extra length needed. The spacers are the hollow cylindrical spacers that look like tubeing but are hard plastic. Also make sure that the holes are small enough so that the screw is not loose inside. I also used regular black weatherstripping and applied it to the light housing first and then installed the light. When you tighten it down take your time and make sure that the weatherstripping does not twist. It is very easy, after i did the first one my seventeen year old son did the other three lights. My installation looks as good as any you will see. Good luck and I think the flush look better in my oppinion.
1)8 ea. 1/2" X 1/2" round poly spacers w/ .194 hole.
2)6 ea. 1/4" X 1/2" round poly spacers w/ .194 hole.
3)8 ea. #8 X 2" panhead sms screws.
4)1 package 5/16" X 3/8" auto/marine closed cell foam gasket w/sticky on one side.
5) Black Sharpie pen.
Step 1) remove screws from taillights and carefully let them hang out of the opening by the wire harnesses.
Step 2) using the sharpie, color the heads of the #8 screws black. Push the tip into the Phillips slots to cover the screw with color completely.
Step 3) install the foam gasket onto the taillight housings where the lens meets the black housing, sticking the gasket to the black housing portion.
Step 4) on the two inboard taillights, install the screws through the holes on the housings and slide 1 ea 1/2" spacer and 1 ea 1/4" spacer over the screws. Slide the taillights back into the openings and tighten the screws.
Step 5) on the two outboard taillights, repeat step 4 except on the outer -most taillight screw only install a 1/2" spacer and then tighten screws.
