Default Exhaust Advice

Im lookin for an exhaust for my 02' Z. Im leaning towards a set of B&B Bullets right now. What are the performance gains as far as HP and TQ. I want to rumble however are the Bullets obnoxious loud?

Also, do you think its better to do Exhaust or Intake as my first mod? Im looking at a Callaway intake as well.

Use the search function - catback and intake are two of the most common topics.

Quick answer is that the catback won't give you more than 5hp if at all. Everything I've read about the B&B Bullets is that they are one of the loudest out there and will get even louder with headers, no cats, etc. You would only do a catback on a Z06 for sound IMHO - not performance. You can't beat the performance and get much lighter than the stock Z06 titanium exhaust.

Re: intake - Callaway Honker - one of the best out there from a performance and fit/finish standpoint, also not cheap but you get what you pay for.

If you get either headers or intake get a tune. If you dont' have the $$$ right now wait and do it right. You don't need a tune if you're just getting a catback.

As mentioned the exhaust is only modded for looks and sound. There are minimal gains to be had over the stock Z06 exhaust.

Just a waste of money........do the CAI from whatever manufacturer you choose, then do a set of headers with a dyno tune. That would be money better spent. Do a search on the Z06 ti exhaust. I think you'll find its an excellent piece & the GM R&D for the ti system was pretty extensive.

I have Bullets on my 03 Z06 I love them but for others riding in it the noise inside is almost unbearable at times.

There is a ton IMO. Like above, it gets worse with headers, no cats ect...

Mufflers are a great mod, and no, the car will not gain much if any in HP or torq, but the change will be imense from the sound. I would recomend you hear a car with the same mufflers as it might be too much for you. WHAT??? O yea, I could not hear what you typed due to my hearing loss from BBs

A CAI would give you nice gains for the buck from my experaince. I do not have before and after, but I have run a vararam and a haltech tric and there was no delta between the two. I would love to try a calaway but I doubt it would be better then a vararam (or much). Good luck man, welcome to the forum and congrats on yuor car brother!!!!

Where in PA, man? I have the Bullets and consider them to be the best loot I've spent for the Z so far. The Breathless CAI and Powerducts are pretty cool too.
