Installed CLB last night...took less than an hour and was very easy. Everthing seems to be working great, no codes, no errors. Also added BG44 to my fuel and that seems to of helped my guage issue. Just wanted to thank everyone for the help and comments on these issues. This is a great board and everyone always seems eager to help. What a wealth of information. Thanks again..........
I see you own a '98. Had any dealership recall work been done to your car concerning the Column Lock Recall issue prior to the install? I've heard there are some special issues to be concerned about if that is the case.
I've heard that something must be done to the computer if the CLB is installed AFTER the dealership recall. Just curious.
Two recall issues concerning the Column Lock have been done by a dealership to my car by previous owners. Just wondering what special precautiions I would have to take if I were to install the CLB now just to be on the safe side and have the problem fixed for good.
I looked at every post and researched for about a year on this. I wanted to avoid the Stealership at all cost, soooo after all the research, I bought a CLB from corvettes of Houston and it took about 30 min. to install. It had no previous Stealership recall done even though I get the notice every six months. No computer work was done. Everything seems to be working great.
Wettevette,
You could get the $50 CLB from Corvettes of Houston and try it out. If it doesn't work the way it should, for whatever reason, sell it on here for near retail.
It would be worth the piece of mind... at least it is for me, knowing I don't have to worry about being stranded in the 'vette.
