Please give me your feedback if you have or have had these tires....I am buying Rims from the forums Ruff group purchase and still have factory runflats. I have read alot of reviews, most seem really good. I don't auto cross or race, I drive aggressive once in a while but not often. I only drive in the summer or when I know it's not going to rain. My 99 vert has just hit the 20k mark.
I've had them for around 5k miles so far. Don't show much wear. Never taken it in the rain so I don't know how they handle wet. They get decent traction. For street use I'm very happy with them. I will definitly get them again.
I had the Nitto 555R's on my Grand National and I thought they were a fantastic tire! With tread they were great in the rain but after 6,000 miles they were pretty unsafe. I used them for mostly street driving.
I have the NT-01s a similar tire with stiffer sidewalls for better handling and I love them and I do agree that at about 6k not a good idea to be in the rain with them, but on dry pavement they are a great street tires

I HAVE ABOUT 6K on mine and i dont see any dif in the rain
I had Firestone Firehawks SZ replace my GY and then the Nitto 555 Extremes replace my Firehawks on my C4.
They were the best tire for handling (dry & wet), with low noise, and great wear. They also had a great looking tread pattern that only added extra value to an already great tire.
When my current C5 Gy wear out - I'm replacing them with something I personally can count on.
If you decide to go for them - you will not be disappointed.
I have the 555R (maybe R2...something like that). They came one the car when I got it, guy said they have about 2k on them, I have put another 3-4k on them and they seem ok in the rain. Have to be a bit cautious off the line, but I wouldnt say unsafe at all. They stick like crazy on dry pavement

The Nitto 555R is a drag radial with a treadwear rating of 100 vs 300 on the 555 Extreme.
Pretty much the rating of 100 for my NT-01s and had mine in the rain last week and it was not fun, for sure it is not going on the highway in the rain until new NTs are installed, but then I do not drive in the rain often as this is a weekend monster
