Ac Question
I had my AC checked and they told me it was the "actuator" that controlled the door on the compressor from opening and closing. Any one know what this is? Yes Ive asked this previously and got no responce. So please no one say. "

C5's use a variable displacement compressor which means the stroke changes to control pressures and it's always running once engaged. It's uses a bellows or control valve on the rear of the compressor to do this and if faulty, it no longer works very well. The part is servicable, acdelco #15-5452, but you've got to get all the gas out of it to replace it. Then pull a vacuum and recharge. You should also replace the accumulator and clean out the orifice at the same time.

This is quite well covered. It seems this is common on C5s. My 97 suffered the dreaded actuator (LH) bug last fall. I bought a head unit and 2 actuators and shortly after they arrived, the problem seems to have cured itself, at least for a bit. I have them ready to go when I get time or it crops up again.
