I have a 2002 C5 all stock. I'm not crazy about speed, but I would like to get a little bass from my exhaust. I was told I believe a Borla cat back would be a good exhaust to get. If anyone has any other suggestion, I would like to hear. Also, I wouldn't mind investing a little $ to make it a bit faster. What's something I can have done simple to get a little more HP.
Thanks for any replies.

For the exhaust, you might try the Granatelli Motorsports cat-back system. Half the price of the Borlas and a well built system for the money. I've had mine on for about 2 months. Nice deep sound on accel and quiet while cruising. No drone and no x-pipe needed. For more info go to the Granatelli web site or do a search here on the Forum. A lot of the Forum members did a group buy just a few weeks ago.

This looks like a great system. Their installation and sound video is great. About what does it cost?
From: Corona CA, sometimes Austin TX or Las Vegas NV
I looked (and listened) for almost two years to different system and even though we (where I work) got a manufactures cost for Magnaflow, I chose the Borla Stingers twins and I am very happy with them.
It's all in what you ear likes. Everyone hears something different.
Your best bet is to listen to the various exhaust systems to determine what you want. How loud do you want to go? The link mentioned above is great to get an idea of what you are looking for but it is certainly better to hear them in person. Personally, I prefer the Magnaflows and the Borlas. I sell/install more of the Magnaflows and Corsa systems.
I am also in Houston. Lemme know if I can help you out in any way.
2. Exhaust- you'll find an array of after market exhaust sysytems out there keep looking at what everyone says about theirs and listen to sound clips - most sites that sell the exhaust have sound clips and if you have a good speaker sysytem on your PC it'll be pretty close!
As far as making your car go faster, my typical rule of thumb is to knock out the gears and exhaust first, then probably either heads/cam or some type of FI. I would also be glad to help you with any of that if you wish and would gladly answer any questions you may have, just give me a shout.
Just a bit faster hang around here very long and you will want a 427, blower, H&C, new gears etc. I ended up getting B&B Bullets they have a nice growl with stock headers but with Supermaxx headers they scream. Hit some car shows up so you can hear some exhausts. Best of luck with your decision.

Magnaflows have a beautiful, deep tone. I've had 4 different catbacks, stock Ti, Borla Stingers, Magnaflow, and now Corsa Pace Car. Between these choices, the Magnaflows have the deepest pitch tone, but on an otherwise stock exhaust, aren't very loud. About 15% louder than the tis, I'd guess. I still have my set of Magnaflow, and they may go back on. I'm adding cats to my car, and if they settle down the Pace Cars enough, I'll keep them just because I like the tips.

You can go to Mid America's website - mamotorworks.com and check out the C5 exhaust comparison. You can hear some different systems. I just put their new Quad Cruiser system on my car and I love it. It is similar to the Corsa but $300.00 cheaper. I had mine put on at the Bloomington Gold show this year. At the show you could listen to systems by Mid America, B&B, Corsa, Borla, Bassani and Magnaflow. They were all installing at the show. If you don't get your system before next years show in June maybe you could take a road trip to Illinois and decide at the show.
I love my Borlas, but I recommend you go to a car show to listen to some and make your own decision. When to some I first heard the Corsas, and thought they were great, then I went to listen to the Bullets which I thought were too loud(kind of want them now)but sounded incredible, then I heard the Borlas and they sounded perfect, not too loud(inbetween the Corsas and Bullets), deep, and they screamed at WOT.
I like my Granatelli's and I also liked the price. Absolutely no drone. You can still carry on a conversation inside the car, but at WOT, they scream.
I have the same, and am really happ with them - was going to go with Borlas, a few of my friends have them, but decided to try the Grannies, my friends with the Borlas like mine better too...no drone/resonance, and no popping... good price too, got in on the introductory special for $475.00 shipped... not sure of the current pricing...
Before you make a quick decision on the VARARAM...do a search on the forum for Cold Air Intakes (CAI) to see what other forum members say about it. It definitely has the biggest punch per just about everyone...but a lot of people complain about quality.
