Ok, so im doing a C5 project and all I need to collect is the exhaust before I have everything I need. I have been trying to get a setup from the forum guys here. What I want is a complete set, with o2 sensors, bungs, mounting brackets, muffs, cats, and tips. But the people I have been talking to have "catback" systems. What are these? Im assuming everything from the cat back? What do people usually sell on the forums? Do complete sets ever get sold?
Catbacks refere to the mufflers and over the axle pipes only... There are a few companies that make a "cpmplete" Header package, Dynotech Supermaxx being one of them...
I haven't seen a truely complete exhaust system for sale... Anyone?

The cat back part of the exhaust is the portion from just in front of the rear axle to the tips of the muffler. On a stock system, it's all one piece. Your best bet to find what you are looking for is to hook up with someone that has put on LT headers and just replaced the entire front section of the exhaust. Could also try Gene at the Karshop and see what he has.
why don't you contact some of the forum sponsor shops around your area and see if they have any "take offs." When I did my install I left the exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe for them to get rid of. Maybe contact 21st Century Musclecars or LG Motorsports and ask if they're willing to part with take off parts.
"Catback" i.e. From the Catalytic converters on back. These are the curved pipes that run over the rear transaxle and include the mufflers and exhaust pipes.
The stock mufflers are supposed to be very "free flowing". Replacing the "Catback" system, will not cause any gain in power. Most people who replace the "Catback" do so for the change in sound. Some people change the "Catback" on the stock systems with Titanium ones from the ZO6s (they weigh less).
The headers are a different matter. "Short tube" headers allow the use of the stock pipes, "pupcats" (small catalytic convertors) and "cats" (catalytic converters). The "Long tube" headers usually replace your system up to the "Catback" system. Most guys who have increased the power output by adding cams and heads usually use a "Long Tube" system then marry them either to the stock "Catback" or an aftermarket "Catback" system. If the Catalytic convertors are eliminated, you will need O2 simulators or the computer reprogrammed to avoid trouble codes.
Keep researching this forum. You will learn a lot. The above, I have learned from reading many comments from guys changing their systems.
A lot of it depends on how much you want to spend. Most guys start with the "Catback" system then graduate to Long tube headers, when they change the cam and heads on their particular engine.

I've got the "catback" mufflers off of my 2001 - they have the chrome tips - I'm in Rugby if you are interested - took them off at 24,149 miles, so they are in good condition
I HAD the entire stock exhaust system, but I've parted it out and all I have left now are the mufflers.
let me know if you are interested in the factory mufflers
