Comparative fuel prices
Now it's $3.059 here in town.Of course, the house I sold that month for $295,000 just resold for $925,000, so I guess I could be paying something around $5.00 and be in proportion.
(and of course I moved into a market with much lower appreciation - that move set retirement back ten years
)Just trying to keep it in perspective. The real kick in the head ain't the gasoline price. I can drive less. It's the electrical charges to keep my house cool (relatively). Ran about $200 per month to hold 76F in 1997. Running me about $700 per month to hold 80F now, and that's after a foot of insulation in the attic, new windows, thermal blinds, shade plantings, and so on. Oh, and replacing the HVAC with a new system that was more "efficient." If they keep jacking the prices, I'll have to turn off the HVAC in the house and sit in my car with the engine idling and the A/C running to reduce costs.
It does leave me appreciating what a bargain the Corvette is. Low cost to acquire, low cost to insure (for a geezer), great fuel mileage. All around, a winner!
