Default I need new brakes

I need to get some new brakes and probably rotors. I heard that turning the rotors on these cars isn't the best idea. Where is a good place to get them at. Flebay or should I just go to the dealer? I want a good product but want to hold on to the wallet for some borlas and a vararam. I have a stock 97 A4 with 65k on it. Thanks you guys are always a big help.

Actually I had the rotors turned on my car and new brakes installed a little over a year ago and haven't had any problems at all.

If you have to buy new ones, Napa has them for about 28 bucks each.

No reason to turn them when new is so cheap

NAPA has stock rotors at a very good price. For the pads, try GMPartsHouse.

if you want blanks.

If you want drilled/slotted (non-track, for show only) then buy from GM parts house, but make sure you plate or paint the hats or they will rust like mad. (Same advice for the Napa's)

Default Got new front GM rotors for less than $23 at GM parts distributer

I got new FRONT rotors for $22.80 at the wholesaler who supplies the local parts to GM dealers. Don't need fancy ones just good rotors. Call them up and get the WHOLESALE price, Two different distributors here and both lowered their price when I said I would buy then elsewhere at a lower price. The rears didn't need to be replaced as they were only slightly worn. DO ADJUST YOUR PARKING BRAKE using the starwheels if it isn't holding your car. Mine now holds like glue. Din't for about 5 years before I adjusted them to just slightlyu grab when brake is off.
Used GM Semi Metallic pads. More brake dust than ceramic but give better stopping performance (don't have to heat them up) for street driving. While you're at it spring for $12 and get a can of Duplicolor Caliper Paint and clean and paint the calipers. Mine look like Z06 calipers as the red paint looks like torch red. Have Fun. BIGHANK

Dont turn them. Too many people have problems.

either NAPA or Rockauto. I use rockauto because they deliver right to my house for $110.

Pads you can go with OEM Z06 pads if you want some more bite over stock pads. They will dust more though.

Just finished my 1999 the same way. Very pleased with the results. Saved some money to do interior insulation.

If you car about how the rotors look, you MUST get rotors that are Zinc washed/dipped. Spend the extra $$$ if you want it to look nice, otherwise the NAPA one are just dandy
