Anyone know of a good place in/near Chandler Arizona that could install navigation (Kenwood DNX7100), ON Star, and HUD (if this is possible) units in my 2004 C5? I was investigating finding another C5 or purching a new 2007 C6 but I like my current C5 so much that I figured it was worth a shot and installing everything myself and save some $$$$ at the same time. I figure the only issue I may have is on the HUD but I also know that anything is possible.
Actually I think the issue you'll have is with the Onstar. Not sure you can do that economically in the aftermarket.
The DNX-7100 is awesome but you'll need to modify your radio bezel and frame to accept the double din head.
Onstar is a GM option when buying new. I've never heard of an after market kit to install. Maybe if it had been originally offered on the model (It wasn't offered on a C5) then it may be possible to retrofit.
The other items are entirely possible and have been done by many on this forum. Good luck.
You know, with Onstar you have a microphone in your car that is on at all times even when the engine is off.
Onstar operators or anyone with legal access to Onstar can eavesdrop on your conversations.
This is not a suspicion but fact. It was brought out in trial that In Las Vegas a couple of years ago, a mobster's conversation was monitored in his Hummer via Onstar by the FBI and introduced into evidence.
I've got nothing to hide. I just don't like the idea of having an open mike connected to someone, somewhere that I don't know or ever have knowledge of when they are listening.
Onstar would be better if you could send text msgs or pre-canned msgs instead of having a mike picking up conversations in your vehicle.

Call Mobile Dynamics in Tempe (a car audio installation school) and ask for Wayne (lead instructor). Tell him Terry in Chnadler (with the black Corvette convertible) referred him. He's a wizard. He swapped the A/C contol panel with the head unit, installing a flip up DVD unit. Unless you do that, the screen flips up over the center AC duct.

HUD can definitely be done, and so can NAV.............as for OnStar, there is no way - from what I understand you woudl have 2 BIG problems.....
1. There is no way that you would take it out of a C6 and get it to work in a C5. Its not just a communication system. It monitors EVERYTHING that the vehicle does. The C5 just doesnt have the sensor setup to integrate with onstar since it wasnt an option
2. Even if you could retrofit it to the C5, GM would not activate it
