Re: Difference between 01 and 02 Z06 rims??? (sloth)
How can you tell by looking at the rims witch ones you have?
My new Z was built on the week that got the 01's and before I try to convince the dealer that I want the 02's I want to be sure of witch ones I have on the car.

The spokes on the '02 Z06 wheels are noticeably more 'rounded' than the '01 wheels, which have a much more sharper/defined edge to them. A '02 was parked next to my '01 Z06 at Ecklers & I noticed the difference between the wheels immediately. The color looked pretty much the same to me.

2002 wheels have an indented cast mark on the "back" of every other spoke. You can feel the indent by running your finger down the back of the spokes, even if the wheel is mounted. 2001 spokes are smooth.
My car was built on 10-02-01 and has the 2002 wheels. Cars built shortly after have 2001 wheels.

Ken, if you get the 01's consider yourself lucky. The 02's are really a downgrade. The 01's are much stronger and the weight difference is only a little more than a pound for all four wheels.
They changed the supplier because the new wheels have a more reliable production process. There was a shortage of wheels in 2001 (someone told me the mold had cracked causing them to lose two months production, don't know if thats true or not) which limited production of the Z06. Far less were manufactured than originally planned.
