My 2001 C5 shifted fine. The clutch did not stick to the floor and I read his article before and being a newbie had no idea what the term pedal 'woes' meant until I did this change. I was like "I don't have them"
I am totally stock...I do not race on tracks like Ranger and did this more out of a preventative maintenance.
I was shocked how 12oz of pure black fluid came out in about 6 fill and drain w/ 20 hard pumps per fill.
Once it was clear I took it out for a drive.
wow!!! The clutch felt so "right" and on some high speed acceleration the shifting smoothness was amazing.
I TOTALLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Even if you are stock. It took me 30minutes and was well worth it.
On your next oil change, change the trany fluid with royal purple synchromax, you will be amazed, bigger difference than the clutch fluid. PM me and I can forward you the pm's I got on how to from BobbyG...
My approach to clutch fluid preventative maintenance was borne out of necessity on my 01 Z06.
Suffered pedal woes; Chevy fix of swapping all the clutch and hydraulic parts worked for only a short time before pedal woes returned. Experimentation led to persistence in keeping the clutch fluid clean and fresh (that means clear of any murkiness), putting the boiling point near the number on the can. For me, problem solved. Is working for hundreds of other owners too.
Another satisfied Ranger technique user, I am up to ~19 changes and what a difference, I also just got back in from draining the manual transmisison and refilling with Mobil 1 SYN ATF and wow the shifter fill so much better.
Angrybob do not be surprised if within a day or two driving the fluid gets a little murky again mine was as dark as the fluid you got out also.
So easy, a caveman could do it. There is no reason to have dirty cluch fluid. This is probably one of the most important things I've learned about taking care of my vette.

I've used both these tips(RP and clean clutch fluid) on my 02 6 spd in the past month. Both worked great. Easy to do and cheap as well. One more reason I love this forum.
