Depends on which LT1 you're talking about. I assume most are referring to the C4 LT1 of the Grand Sport etc. But there was an LT1 of 1970, solid-lifter, carbureted, 350 that was under-rated at 370hp......probably more like 400+hp. Of the modern day era.....the LS1 is the choice.

Horsepower values were measured differently in that era. It would probably be in the high 200's/very low 300's if rated again today.

Very interesting statement...I had a 70 LT-1 corvette vert and a friend had a 70 Z/28. The Z/28 back in the day did 12.40's @ 111 mph with jetting, timing, headers and slicks...car came with 4.10's from the factory. Just basic tuning except headers. The Z/28 weighed about 3500 lbs. Period road tests had it turning 13.90's-14.50's, 98-102 mph showroom stock ?(back then the press cars were 'prepped'). The stated H.P was 360 for Z and 370 for corvette. The actual net according to some periodicals placed them at 300 to 315 H.P. Looking at this info i wonder what my our cars were actually putting down. I never raced my vette but the performance was very similar on the street. I also had headers and tuning but with 3.73's.
