I had an 06 with the paddle shifters. As you can see, I no longer have it. It was an ok car, but IMO, it was very plain compared to the C5. The paddle shifters quickly turned into nothing more than a gimmick. Not really useful IMO because of how they work, push to upshift, pull to downshift on both shifters, as well as the position of the shifters. And the A6 seemed to hunt for the right gear a lot. Go to the C6 section and you'll find posts about how the A6 does some funcky things, like not going into the selected gear when you shift manually, becoming locked in one gear, etc. Don't do it just for the sake of change. You may regret that decsion as I did.
My dad drove one of the paddle shifter C6s before ordering his new 07, and he really hated it. He said they were in a really awkward position, didnt shift right when he hit flicked the paddle, and just didnt fell as cool as he had hoped. A friend of ours also had to have his car fixed because it was stuck in gear (not sure exactly what was fixed cant remember). My dad ended up with a manual 07 Vette. which is now useless to him for a few more months as his hip is broken and his ankle is broken.
