Default Reset Gauge

I have my '03 serviced recently and when I checked the oil life left it showed 62%. I called the GM dealer and he told me that obviously they forgot to reset. I can take it back there but it is in a town about 40 miles away and we don't get there during the work week very often. He was going to try and talk me thru it but I did not have the car with me. Can a very technically challenged person reset this on his/her own? Thanks.

PS I have not noticed any other things that need reseting, am I missing something?

Turn the key to the "run" position (first click only - do not start the car) and depress the accelerator to the floor three times. That will reset the oil life indicator. See, nothing to it!

Please check with the forum before you ever take your car to the dealer. With your limited knowledge they will take advantage of you big time.

Default reset oil life

The Owners Manual says to use the DIC to reset the oil life. I was able to but sometimes it took a DOZEN OR MORE TIMES before it would actually reset. The key on and 3 fast pressing of the throttle pedal to the floor works like a champ. Try it. You will LIKE IT. BIGHANK

Or you could just bring up the Oil life on your DIC and hold the "reset" button until it turns to XXX%.
