I did the ZO6 cover with the K&N filter myself. Somewhere in here I saw the Swiss cheese method where they drilled a lot of holes in the cover. They did mention adding a hood seal to keep out water. I am thinking about adding a few holes in mine. I never drive my car in the rain so I wouldn't be adding the seal.

If you do anything that would expose the top of the air filter you need to add the hood seal. It's cheap, easy and alternative is a wet filter when it rains or when you wash the car.

That's what I did before I broke down and put in a Callaway Honker.

You can just take the top of the air box off and drill holes in it for more air flow. Or spend the $50 or so and get a Z06 lid for it.

Just get an 02 Z06 lid-pretty much the same thing as the swiss cheese mod and you'll be able to sell it in case you decide to go with the aftermarket CAI. If you gut you're intake lid, you'll be hardpress to sell it or it will end up in the trash. I did that to my stock lid before I bought my Z06 lid and ended up giving away the one that I gutted out. By the way, make sure you get 02 z06 lid and not the 01's because they are the same lid as the 00-04 Coupe's and Vert's!
