Default **oil Catch Can Ideas**

Ok guys, my 04 Z06 is smoking like crazy when I get on it (supercharged). I finally found out they make oil catch cans that fit in between the pcv and intake manifold and eliminate the oil contamination in the intake. I figured out the design and have decided to make my own, but my question is, why cant I just put a breather on the can and plug off the intake port??? Or will that mess with my emissions?

ANY IDEAS?! Thanks,

Dustin

Go do a Search in the C5 Tech section. It has been discussed in great detail.

Well, you want your crackcase vented, and you don't want oil in your intake tract, so a catchcan would go a long way to solving this problem. Lots of guys get the compressor oil/water seperators at your local home improvement store, with great success. I got the Elite Engineering one, and I'm happy with it.

Don't waste your time building one from scratch. There are several stock ones out there that people are using that work just fine and are easily installed. Do a search and you will find several threads discussing the relative merits and cost of the available cans and how to install them.

Thanks guys for the advice. I did however make one out of pcv piping and it looks great. Im going to test it out later. The problem I have is there is NO SPACE LOL. With that supercharger under the hood I have little to no room for a canister. If it doesnt work I will just fork out the cash on the one corvette garage sells....its nice and aluminum =)

Thanks again,

Dustin
