Default Best Radar Detector?

Need to get one tired of always worrying when I drive on the freeway or town.

I just drove 3000 miles this week through 7 states. Every state now has troopers shooting a laser gun at your (my) car. While I was able to pick up the radar no problem; I was zapped by their guns and my detector went crazy. Of course there was no warning with my old radar detector. Plain and simple they nail you. So whatever you buy, look for one that can handle laser guns.

Passport 8500 X50 It comes in red or blue L.E.D. They cost @ $ 300 but you can get a great deal on ebay. I just bought one for my son for $180 with the red display it was used but in excellent condition. They do sell new ones too. Good luck and that my $.02

I have the Rocky Mountain Jammer. As far as the jammer goes - seems to work. The detector part works great !!

With all the new technology that LEO have these days detectors are becoming useless unless you have a jam-mer and don't get caught with that one in many states. Even the best of the best detectors out there all rely on someone in front of you getting zipped 1st in hopes your close enough to pick it up. Since our cars are so un-noticeable coming dn the road LEO just wait it out and zap ya at the last min and they got ya. Staying within 8mph of the posted limit on the hwy has saved my butt more times than any detector. Around tn detectors are much more useful but you are more likely to get a ticket if you get pulled over with one. V-1, Passport, Bell just to name a few stay on top of the game for protection but all are useless against instant on and laser if your targeted.

I've been using the Passport 8500 and have been pleased with it. You need other traffic around you for it to be effective. I know it has saved me on numerous occasions.

Its going to boil down to the V1 and Escort on this forum.

Now being an Escort 8500 owner I would naturally say that is better as it works perfectly for me but I would ask someone who has owned both.

Default Valentine One

got my first radar/laser detector in the Valentine One. I really like it and use it everyday. Never owned another brand but my friends have the V-1 and they recommended it highly.

Plain and simple, radar detectors can warn you about radar ahead of time. Radar detectors only tell you when you've been hit by a Laser beam. Because it's a laser beam your detector usually can only pick it up after it hits you an you have been clocked.

From what I've read only a laser jammer system will give you a chance against laser guns. Look up Radar Roy or search Laser guns and you will find some information. They also rate the best radar detectors and laser jammer systems and sell some of them.
