I run the Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure (aka run flats). Not that noisy, but between the MagnaFlow pipes and having the top down, I can't hear the tires anyway. And they run fairly well in the snow. Good handling and fairly sticky.
I guess I'm the only person not impressed with my tires. I had a set of Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure. The tires were put on new by the person who sold me the car and only had a couple hundred miles on them at time of purchase. I've just had the tires replaced after 36K miles and running the rears all the way to the cords.
The tires grip pretty darn good. I thought the tire were kind of noisy, but they were the first run flats I've ever driven. What I do not like about them is the handling. After first buying my Z51 Vette, I was a little disappointed. See, the rear end never felt as secure in hard cornering as my 2000 Z28 did on GY RSAs. The Vette felt like the back end wanted to squirm when pushed in a turn.
I replaced the worn out tires with Nitto 555 Extremes. These are not run flat tires. The new tires grip quite a bit better than the Pilots ever did. Also, the car CARVES the turns now. The rear end is PLANTED and tracks perfectly. The car feels like a different animal...one that will not let go of the road.
Anyway, I hope this helps. The Pilots were good, but I'm sure there is a better tire out there.
PS2 here also. I could tell in 50 feet of driving that these were awesome. You can practically picture adhesive between the tires and road like when you pull a piece of hot pizza up and the mozzarella hangs on.
I have the GSD3 tires and love them. I would like to consider runflats and the Pilots seem to be the hands down winner. I still wonder what everyone thinks about the availability of shops that can service runflats. I have posted this question before with no responses. Since runflats have to be service by certified techs using special equipment, do you not worry about being in the middle of nowhere and having a flat? In a city location I'm not concerned about non-runflats because it is easy to get help via auto club. I think the value of runflats is having a flat when I am crusing in the bonedocks. The problem is that if runflats can only travel 50 miles I might not get to a shop that can service the tire before teh 50 mile trip is up. Thoughts?
I have the PS2's in the rear----I have 19's so they are expensive!!! A little over 500 per tire. They are noiser than stock but I can't really hear them over my bullets. Better traction than the z06 goodyears but nothing like a drag radial I had to sacrfice a little performance for looks.
