Yes, and they come in metric and standard sizes.

I'm not sure what size you need, but just buy a pack of each, they're not expensive. You'll always be able to use good tools in the future. You can get them at Sears, Lowes, and other hardware stores.

You need a T-15 to get the dash and console apart and a T-40 to remove the three Torx bolts that hold the shifter in place.

The bolts that hold the shifter done are t40's? Mine were regular bolts, but I think the owner before I had an after market shifter in there.

The entire unit, including the box with the shaft that leads to the linkage, is held in with 3 T-40 bolts.

Get an assortment of the TORX bits from where ever you regularly buy your tools. They fit a 3/8" ratchet...you'll need them for something else on your car, guaranteed.

Hi YeloFevr -

All of the C5's I have done have four hex head bolts holding the shifter in place........and I know that they were all factory stock.

The shifter has a mounting plate with 4 holes in it.

There is no need to remove the actuator mechanism if you are just changing the shifter out.

best regards -

mqqn,

I think they are replacing the whole shifter assembly. When you purchase the 07 C6 Shifter it comes as an assembly and the ****/set screw. Your pic shows the two of the three #40 torx screws that hold it in the other is in the back and down on the linkage inside the tube. The top four hex heads are for the shifter only not the assembly. Don

Hi Don -

Ok - gotcha!

I did not know you had to replace the lower acutator to do the swap - I was under the impression you could just stick the C6 shifter into the hole and go.

Thanks for the clarification.

best regards -

It went fine for the most part. Two of the three T40's required small hits with the impact wrench, though. Thanks!

I love it! The throws aren't too much shorter, but they are much smoother. The **** is excellent because it fits right in the palm of my hand, unlike the stock C5 **** which felt uncomfortable. Modifying the boot was easy, too. I just had to cut about 1/4 inch of the top so the new **** would fit through—I just wish it was cracked and "textured". If it bothers me enough, I'll get a boot from Vette Essentials, but it's not that big of a problem.

Thanks for all the help and straightening out the confusion ^^above^^.
