Got rid of the runflats for Kumho's non-runflats. What a difference in ride, noise and handling, will never go back. Bought the Z06 tire kit in case of a flat. Decision to switch was based on comments here.

I switched to and never looked back. A guy yesterday asked what would happen if I had a flat? He said your frame looks like it will be on the ground. I said try and fix it or fix-a-flat and get a new TPS.

Good luck w/ your new tires.

Default non-run flats

I carry a tire plug kit ($8.00) and an air compressor ($14.95) Yeah, I can do a flat. I already tried out the tire plug kit on my company car and she is still holding air quite nicely.

I just got rid of the run flats and put on a set of Avons. What a differance. All the bad handling that I didn't like about the Vett has gone away. The hunting lanes, grabing joints in the road, the sharp jolt over expanson joints, all gone. Unsprung weight is the enemy of good handling. The run flats are heavy and have very stiff sidewalls. If I have a flat I will call the auto club.

I'm glad that all you no-run-flat devotees are happy. I also used these forums for info when my stock Good Years were done and I just couldn't make the switch to non-runflats. What I ended up getting from Discount Tire Direct were Michelin Pilot all-season ZP's. These tires are run flats but they feel nothing like the stock Good Years. They are quiet, they handle great, they don't track highway grooves and they don't make me wince at road bumps. Great tires at a great price plus I still have the safety and convenience of not having to worry about flat tires. Thanks for everyones input here!

Best of luck with the non-runflats. The two sets I have run sure gave a much better ride with less noise than the runflats.

Wow...I did just the opposite...Dumped Goodyear non run flats for a set of Kumho run flats and like the rest of you have said..."I'll never go back".... you can keep your little patch kits and air compressors!

Already on my second set of Michelin Pilot Sports. 20K, and never looked back. Cell phone and AAA card are standard equipment now.

Something I have always wondered about. Since the Vette suspension is designed for the run-flat and it very stiff side wall, wouldn't putting non-runflats on mess up the suspension design? Seems if you remove the stiff side wall from the equation, then you would need to stiffen up the springs and/or shocks to maintain the suspension design.

Any suspension experts out there that are in the know about this?

Z06s don't have runflats. I think with the lesser weight of the non runflats and the softer sidewall it would make it easier for the suspension to work since the tire would absorb some of the shock. I have stock Z06 wheels and tires on my 02 coupe. It has a nice quiet ride and the suspension is more than adequate for my style of driving.

Right, the suspension is softer due to the soft sidewalls and thus a better ride (think cadillac suspension ).

The Z06 has a totaly different suspension settings, different spring and shock rates. A whole different ball game.

So the question still stands, if you go to non-runflats do you need to need to make changes to maintain the suspension design?
