It's over 105 in Sacto. and my Y2K a/c doesn't seem as cold as it once was. I can't find my dial thermometer. Does anyone know if there's a "sight glass" (like the old R12's?) Wallmart has the INTERDYNAMICS R134a can with a gauge. Perhaps I'll pick one up as I believe they're trying to outlaw the private sale of R134A, at least in Kalifornia.
I miss the ole sight glass days, I have not seen it on a R134A system, but go with full manifold gauges and read up on the charts to get the proper fill.

My buddy has a set. 1red house, 1blue hose, 1yellow hose. If I can remember correctly. He used them when he drained my ac and sucked it down to refill.
Wound up with a can of 134A with a vacuum gauge attached. Hooked it up and it shows "FULL" I guess the extreme temp. and sitting in the sun all day taxes the system.
Cheers
Try 118 + out here in the southwest desert of Arizona.
My 98 vert was still putting out -50 degree air last week. Well it was until it developed a leak in the rubber part of one of the hose's...
We pick it up Saturday, The shop told me they were seeing 47 degrees at the vent with an outside temp of 116 today...

You're showing your age. Sight glasses went away in the late 60's ????? Maybe early 70's.
Get some guages, harbor freight complete with plastic case $39.00.
Mine was low about 1 can of 134. Made a big difference after I added it. Watch it 134a causes testicular cancer. NO KIDDING. But Dupont likes it since their patent ran out on F12. BIGHANK
