I know we're all vette owners but i got a kick out of this one.... My friend Tom bought a beautiful new metallic burnt orange 2007 vert bcuz he is in love with mine. We went for a ride in it and i said punch it. He did and i said no really - do it. He said "i did". Anyway - mine is a 98 coupe with a 139,000 miles on it that i take to a shop that is for vette freaks and it is completely tweaked. No major mods - just intake and exhaust with LS1 wires and plugs. We then took mine and i made him drive. He will be visiting the shop i go to soon!
Well I guess I will wait a little longer to get a C-6. Could it be that the car just doesn't have enough miles on it yet? Could his "on-board" computer be dialed back until it is "broken-in"?

Hard to believe that you couldn't tell a difference in performance between the LS2 and the LS1. I know when I drove an '07 vert I sure could tell that the '07 had more punch to it than mine. You say exhaust on yours, but do you have LT headers as part of that system? That could be a reason you did not feel any difference.
At any rate, sounds like you gave him the mod bug.
Considering the fact that a bone stock LS2 can run 12.2s to 12.5s no problem, it does seem odd that this one wouldn't feel quick. I do know their ECMs pull out a ton of timing when the coolant temp is above 200F though, so perhaps this was the case here.
My dads 07 vette feels about the same as my 99 with just a few mods (in sig), with the edge going to my 99. but as far as stock vs. stock, the ls2 is definitely faster.
The next logical step in the comparison of the two cars is - YOU drive his car and punch it... and then compare it to how yours responds.
Yea, I agree with this. He probably didn't really floor it. I have a friend who had a mustang V6 that he was too scared to floor. He thought it would wreck it. That thing likely never saw over 4,000 rpm
I drove a C6 w/ the auto in it and wasn't all to impressed. It felt stronger than the 01 C5 w/ auto I test drove before it. But, it didn't deliver what I thought it might. So, maybe high expectations lead to that feeling of a let down.
I think that the stock C6 is deceptive because the engine is so smooth and the exhaust is so quiet. I drive both the C5(mn6) and C6(Z51 a4) regularly and the stock C6 feels as fast as the C5 with bolt-on's. The different trannys make it hard to tell for sure, need to "line them up"!
I have driven brand new stock C6’s and when you punch them, you also have to take into consideration that they do seem smoother. If this new Vette and yours were taken to the track, then you may find out what I mean. If you have a new intake and cat backs, you are toast. If you have long tube headers, I still think he will get you.
