Loose Harmonic Balancer Pully
I have a 1999 Corvette and recently noticed a vibration and scrapping sound. I got the front of the car off the ground and realized I had a belt off. Upon closer inspection I seen that the harmonic balancer pully was rubbing on the steering components. I reached in and discoved the center bolt for the harmonic balancer was loose enough to turn with my fingers causing the pully to come forward and through the belt. Has anyone else had this issue or familiur what the issue might be other than just being loose?

hmmm well you probably need a new pulley now....not sure why it came loose....any work done lately??

Mine did on my 99, they said something about the stock GM pulley is made of some weird material in the middle, really not sure

The pully on the C5's are no keyed like the fbody's. When they are installed the metal is expanded to put the crank. It's a rather poor design by gm. I would just get an aftermarket pully and be done with it.
