Default Z06 Tire Inflator Kit

Has anyone had to use the tire inflator kit out on the road? How did it work, and was it a pain? Fortunately, I haven't had a flat out on the road, but think about it now and then and wonder if the inflator kit is any good.

Hi ZeeOSix -

Interesting you ask this - I have had my 02 Z since 2001, and I had never opened the kit to look at it -

I opened it last weekend prior to going to the drag strip to see what the compressor looked like -

It looks like a quality unit - but I have not used it yet - I will this afternoon as I am going to take this unit with me on a wekk long motorcycle trip -

I'll let you know what I find out about it -

best regards -

Hi ZeeOSix -

The Z inflator works well - it takes a little while to air up a tire if it is really low - but it is a good small inflator to have with you -

I used it for a motorcycle trip.

I will keep it when I sell the car to use on the bike for long trips.

best regards -

It works great. Got to use it the same day I bought the car. Just make sure you start the car before you turn on the pump. Takes about 5 minutes to air up a completly flat tire.

I haven't used the can of the fix-a-flat goop but I did play with the portable compressor and can tell you it's one of the best of its kind on the market. It operates very smoothly and highly efficient.

I read somewhere that the shelf life of the "GOO" is 3 years, bought a spare just in case. Also have a plug kit.

I guess the first owner kept the tire inflator kit out of my car and I was shocked at what these dudes are going for on Ebay! I finally found an honest guy on Ebay, Bryan, that has brand new GM kit for $69.00 plus $12.00 shipping. I now own 3, one for my car, and either 2 for backups or to sell later myself for a little "high octane" funds. There is one on Ebay now listed with a "buy it now" price of $225.00!! I figure that the prices will only go up and I wanted to get them while I still could. Here is Bryan's link:

I have heard that the GM "goop" was made for GM by Dunlop and that this stuff has a very long shelf life as long as it stays sealed but that GM made Dunlop go back and put expiration dates on the bottles. GM needed the parts resale business I guess. Not like they have a great cash flow!!

Had a flat on mine. Used the compressor to air it up(worked great ), so I could get back to house. Ordered Run Flats the next day. No problems since.

What brand of run flats did you buy and how do you like the ride, noise and handling of them??

I haven't used it on my car, but I have used it one a stranded motorists car and it worked very well! That day it inflated 2 tires and got two stranded tourists from Colorado back on the road again!

The kit is not quality and the replacement cost is over inflated! You can get much more for less here http://www.slime.com/product.php?product=50001. I am sorry but GM dropped the ball in this area.

I use it all the time at the drags after I do my initial air up with the track hose. This allows me to maintain my place in line. I also allow fellow racers to do the same.

I agree with you if you had to buy the GM kit from the factory. But I have used the compressor and it is one of, if not the best, portable 12V. compressors I have ever used and I have owned/used a few. This dude has them NOS for only $69.00:

Try getting AAA to make it to some of the places and roads in rural Arkansas!! You would be lucky if it was in the same day...or maybe the same week!!
