I have had many Vetts starting in 1966 and I recently sold my 01 Vert after a 6 year love affair. I determined this to be my last one so when I sold it I also gave away the items I used to service it including the jack pod.
I could not stand being without so I bought a low miles 02 Z06 which led to the questions.
1. I installed a skip shift defeat harness on my 01. Does the 02 Z06 utilize skip shift? I just got it so I have not had time to lift it up to see if there is a harness but I do notice that there is no indicator light on the dash as there was on my 01. I have encountered what felt like the skip one time only.
2. The rear compartments or what were compartments on my 01 do not have covers. Is there a source for putting covers in the Z06? I cannot belive they weigh enough to warrant not putting them in. Mid America has them for older vettes but not the C5.
Prior to buying the Z06, I drove a 05 C06 that was on the Nissan dealers lot. It was a base coupe with the 1 LT package. I was surprised that it rode rougher than the Z and had issues such as traction control not working and broken interior pieces. I will take the C5.
Does anyone out there have a set of 02 Repair Manuals if so email me at lwise4wise@hotmail.com

Howdy! Welcome back
1. Yes, all C5 manuals do - the part is the same as well, so if you kept your old skipshift (CAGS) bypass plug, it will work on your '02 (FYI, your '02 should also have the light, maybe it's burned out or you haven't noticed it).
2. Yes, you can get several nice aftermarket covers for the main "well" and the two smaller side ones too - with logos, color matched, all ranges of pricing. Check out some venders over on the left (especially general "accessory" type shops vs. tuners).
Keep an eye out for manuals - I see them circulate through the For Sale area weekly but they tend to go pretty quick!
Thanks for the info. I sold the 01 with the kit on it. I guess the bulb is out. If so it can stay out who needs it. I will check vendors for the covers. Thanks.
Ken Fichtner's dealership used to sell the hardware needed to lock the covers down. The covers are the same as the convertible covers so are nothing special.
SOUTHERN CAR PARTS or EXTREME MOTOR SPORTS (both site vendors) are two that carry the the covers. They're not oem, but will cover the holes for a flat trunk surface. They don't have any securing attachments like oem, you don't really need them.
SOUTHERN CAR PARTS also has a mat to lay over the top of the covers.

That's where I got mine from. They do the job no problem.
A Skip Shift Eliminator or CAGS Defeat can be installed on a 02. I had mine turned off when it was dyno tuned.
I've heard of the Traction Control problems on the C6's. I guy I sold a Tacoma to also had a C6 that was in the shop numerous times for that issue.
Welcome to the Z06 family ! I owned a 72 Vert when I purchased my Z ... I never really liked the styling on the C5, but the FRC looks so nice I am totally in love with it now.
