I was just driving home today on the interstate after buying my new headers, when as I passed an entrance ramp, I feel a big thud and look to my right to see a toyota corolla getting up-close and personal with my C5. Thankfully the woman pulled over and we waitied for the cops and all that jazz. She did have insurance, but since I live in Hawaii, everything is no fault. It left a nice long black rub mark along the entire side of my car as well as 2 nice 2" cracks in my passenger front fender. After going at it with some rubbing compound, just about all the black is gone. Looks like I need to get ahold of a new fender :-( It's not noticable unless you are within 3-5ft of the car, but it still ruined my day and will probably cost me more money than I wanted to spend to get it fixed. Oh well, sh*t happens I guess.
Even though its no fault can't you still call her insurance and demand payment for the damage? I was pretty sure FL was no fault but I actually rear ended someone that cut me off but a witness stayed and gave a statement that he had to swerve to avoid her. Ended up getting money from her insurance and mine never paid out a penny.
Yeah, that would definitely ruin my day...especially after picking up headers and looking forward to the install. Have to look on the bright side...still have your health and the car could have been worse. Luckily it was just a fender and not the entire side that has to be replaced. G.L. with the repairs.
Here are the pictures. You can make out the two cracks, but from a distance they really aren't that noticable. I still get mad every time I look at them though.
P.S. This was after the rubbing compound. The huge black smear/stripe along the entire length of the car is now gone.
