Having a 98 myself and knowing what I paid three years ago, I personally do not think that the price is much out of line. I certainly would want the new tires on it. You should make sure that they put only the original tires on "GY runflats ". They are not cheap... You could then sell them and get what you want likely for less $$$.
For me, I would rather not have the noisy Goodyear run-flats.
asking 22900 which is high according to posts that I've read here. The dealer says he will put on a new set of tires and have the chip repaired.
I have a 06 Miata that at best I could get maybe 18500 for, so I go and offer him $4500. and the Miata / difference on the road. I figure at least $1250 of the 4500 is taxes and title stuff. Anyway the dealer lets me leave the lot and calls me back the next day and says that it is mine if I want it for 4500 difference.
I think you should make sure of this deal before you get too excited about it. Usually when somebody says $4500 difference they mean before taxes or anything else. The dealer may have heard you but may not have understood you. Before you show up with your check book make sure the two of you are on the same page.
OK here is were I'm at, 4500 on the road with new tires and a oil change, the chip on the hood is my problem!
He was going with Kumbo Tires but one of them is on back order so he offered to put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP on, is this tire going to be OK?
Is it a run flat tire? I'm guessing that I want Run Flats since there is no spare?
I just paid 22k for a 98 with 16k on it. My C5 is like a new car, not one rock chip or scrach anywhere on it. he was asking 23k for it which was to high. I know that I paid top dollar for it but to me it was worth it after seeing some of the garbage that is out there before I bought it. Mine also has Y2K crome wheels, CAI and a catback on it to. I would say anything below 21k would be okay, as long as the car is perfect. 22,900 is to high IMO also.
