Default Good Deal?

Ok im building a project c5 and I need an exhaust system, I found a guy locally but he wants $500 for the complete set from the manifolds back.... I found a few free online but only cats back and Id have to pay for shipping. Then there are some stainless sets on ebay for 490 free shipping but I dont see the cats or xpipe, would you guys go this route? I know its expensive, but its convienent.

the thing is I think this exhaust has very low miles, like he just took it off right when he bought the car. I think if I can get it for 400 im just gonna do it.

Example of what the stock exhaust system is worth, based on RECENT sales by me. All parts off of my 2001 coupe, removed at 24,149 miles, excellent condition:

Manifolds $62.00 shipped

Cats from H Pipe $125.00 shipped (note - cats ONLY shipped - d/n ship the entire H pipe as buyer was interested in the cats only - value of the cats probably has increased a little since then due to the value of the metal the cats are made w/ - might be able to get more for the cats by selling them on Flea-bay)

My cat back mufflers are for sale for $100.00 total for BOTH (ie: $50.00 each) - shipping not included, but they are somewhat local (ie: within the state)

total value of the entire exhaust system as figured above: $287.00

ADD a little for "assumed" inflation, etc and since we are figuring estimates, so add $75.00 bucks or so . . . total value/worth is now only $350.00 (roughly)

Guess it depends how badly you want the entire exhaust system in ONE chunk - piece it out and it's gonna be cheaper

it is one chunk, if I pieced it there would be some assembly and possible welding from a muffler shop. Plus I already have manifolds so I can sell those. I think I am going to go this route, thank you so much eagle for the opinion and the opportunity to buy you pieces earlier.

No problem . . . but, if welding is required, then there is a problem w/ what you are buying . . . becuase a stock exhaust system bolts together - manifolds bolt to the H pipe which has the cats which bolts to the catback mufflers - if you have to weld, some part of the system has been damaged or modified.
