GM says 100k for the coolant. I don't remember the tranny, but it may be about the same. Personally I would change it sooner than that. I have 62k on mine and looking to change trans/diff soon just for peace of mind.
GM says 100K for the tranny (from the owner's manual) UNLESS you drive in dusty or mountainous regions, in which case you should do it at 50K. I did mine at 60K (moved to Colorado at about 55K) and it was in need of changing.
Coolant is at 100K, and there really isn't any need to change it out unless it gets contaminated by, say, topping off with the wrong type of coolant.
Costs vary slightly, but a tranny fluid CHANGE will run about $100, while a FLUSH will run close to $200. My mechanic said he would drain it first, and then if the fluid was dirty and gritty, he would flush it, otherwise he would just change it. I just needed a change. Hope that helps!

Earlier this year my car overheated because two of my radiator tubes where so blocked the radiator shop couldn't even run a rod through them; I had approx 60K om my 02. The new radiator cost me $700 (an OEM radiator would have cost even more)......I wouldn't wait until I hit 100K or 5 years to change the radiator fluid.
Saturday I took my Vette to a local garage to have the tranny (MN6) fluid and differential fluid changed at 63K both fluids where very dirty and smelled like . The garage charged me $40 for labor because I brought my own fluid (Royal Purple) which cost me about $60 at Pep Boys. My tranny shifts much smoother now. Next is I will flush out the clutch and power steering fluid which I will do myself.

My mechanic said the same thing. I only needed the change since the fluid was in good shape.
I replaced the transmission fluid at 36K with Mobil 1 synthetic and it also increased the shifting performance, especially the 1st to 2nd but improvement throughout all gears.
When should you change the tranny fluid? And how much does it usually cost? Also, the same question for coolant.
Thanks everybody for the info. I need to bring it in for an oil change so I figured I would change the other fluids while I was there. However, I only have 23k so it sounds like I have some time before changing the tranny fluid or coolant. Thanks again.

You'll find that most CF members change their oil a little b/4 when the DIC says so or once a year regardless of miles. They'll also change out the trans. fluid and coolant sooner than recommended. I've often read here that once these get 7ish+ years old, again, regardless of the miles, it's time for the heeve ho! Amortize each of these change outs over the time of service and you're looking at some mighty cheap maintenence. Good luck.

Unless your radiator fluid has already been changed the Dexcool is 6 years old. Do yourself and your wallet a huge favor and change your radiator fluid.

Coolant should be changed at 5 years or 100K miles - whichever comes first. I changed mine at 4 years just to be on the safe side. Probably would do the same for the tranny fluid.
