everything BUT the central instrument cluster can be converted to LEDs....rather easily.
The Problem with LEDs is they traditionally have a narrow viewing angle which makes them a paint for instrument cluster mounting. even wide angle LEDs have "hot spots" My 97 silverado used 194 style bulbs for gauge illumination. I attempted converting them to wide angle LEDs and found that not only did they have hot spots, but they were significantly dimmer than the incandescent bulbs.
2 other options you might want to look at are:
- different color flourecent tubes (which will require really fun wiring)
- a colored filter to plave between the light and gauges (this actually works rather well. I used a blue theatre gel on my truck's gauges with an excellent effect
I saw a pick of a car on this forum and the dash/gaiges were REALLY bright at night. I just assumed that they had led bulbs in there. I would change the bulb to what ever, as long as it makes them brighter.
you might want to consider white face gauges....they're much brighter day or night. Not to mention the swap is much less complicated than trying to re-wire you're illumination system.
