In the '50 there was a TV show called "Have Gun, Will Travel". You are in the same situation here as well. Your TV show is called: "Have Money, Will Bling" You might try getting touch with a Chrome Plating Company near you, that is where I would start and then post some pictures. Good Luck
I would also like to know who can do Black Chrome, and whether there are any durability issues. I have a set of 505a's that I might do this to in the future. I know someone on here has had a set done, because I have seen them in a thread.
Long ago, I heard that "black chrome" was just another word for "powdercoating". Anyone know if this is true?
Edit:In the '50 there was a TV show called "Have Gun, Will Travel". Dan-Na, you ARE old! (but not as old as me)
You are a REEEL funny guy there! How's about this one? I remember watching the TV Show "Route 66" the first time through! As an added bit of trivia, "Route 66" starrred Martin Milner as Todd Stiles and George Maharis as Buz Murdock! and it was a convertible Corvette too! A C-2 if I have my Gens correct. Maharis left the show in 1963, and was replaced by Glenn Corbett as Linc Case, a troubled Vietnam Nam vet also seeking meaning on the road. BTW, the Corvette supposedly belonged to Todd/Martin Milner.
Check out Corvette Mike. They sell the rims with a 'black nickel' finish which is what you refer to as black chrome. The finish is part of the plating process and not a powder coat. It is also a lot more expensive than chrome. The finish looks like chrome that has a dark tint in it. Nice if you don't want too much of the chrome 'bling' look. They can also do your rims for you as well and offer an exchange program.
Black Chrome is more of a powder coating process than chroming but it's actually a mixture of the two. They're is also a color called Hyperblack which is simular but strictly a powder coat. My opinion the Hyperblack looks way better; color contrast on the curvature of the wheels is awesome. It's not nearly as shiny has it doesn't have a refective background/base which you may/may not want. Toyota has been doing several of there wheels factory in this color; some scion tc's, sequoia's, etc.
