So I have a little problem. I have a set of chrome Z07 wheels with a little curb rash on my rear wheel. I've done a little research on getting the curb rash away. Is it seriously as easy as starting with a low grit count and moving up to a finer grit? Also, this may sound dumb, but is wet sanding just sand paper doused in water? I figure the water helps with the sanding? 'Cause for all I know it could be a complicated process. Any input appreciated.
You have it right with the wet sanding. It helps wash away the grit as your sanding so it is smoother. I don't know about doing that on Chrome wheels to get rid of the rash. I guess it would make it smoother but probably won't match. Mine are painted so it was a little easier when I did mine.

Yeah, that's the only thing I'm worried about. But as of now you can barely tell it's there. I figure if i can clean it up, you won't be able to tell at all, unless you are looking for it.
I have cleaned up some stock polished wheels with a dremel to get the bad stuff smoothed out and then progressively finer emery cloth. Final step was rubbing compound and polish.
I don't know about chrome. If its pretty deep and went through the plating, you may have to have them re chromed.
UPDATE: Holy crap I can't believe it, but ALL of the curb rash came off. I guess the wheels were just too strong for that curb, haha.
Thanks to everyone for their input. I would also like to recommend Corvette Garage's chrome plated Z07 wheels. Those things are troopers for standing up to that kind of torture.
