extended warranty

I will chime in here
1.) I can not sell you a GMPP for your 2002-as stated I can only sell you a GMPP if under the factory 36-36.
2.) They are raping you on price-enough said
3.) They can not sell you a GMPP unless you bought the car from them and even then you have to purchase a GMPP on the day of purchase on a used car.
I just had this discussion with the head person of GMPP and he has taken warranty privileges away from over 100 dealers in the last year for this very thing, selling a GMPP to someone who just walks in off the street without the proper inspection, etc and something is wrong with their car.
My opinion of aftermarket warranties-STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Throw in the fact that mine had a bad EBCM and the headlight problem when I purchased it. The dealer was going to fix them in the price, but I got them to reduce the price of the car and I ended up fixing myself with better parts and for less than they discounted.
So what did I do when I started seeing all the post on the forum from folks with problems? I went out and purchased a $2,500 aftermarket warranty from AAA. One year later and I've not had another problem (knock on wood
). What I have had is piece of mind that if I do have problems I have a warranty that will cover most of the costs. The down side is, if you modify your car from stock you run the risk of not being covered. Some companies will cancel your warranty if you modify it from stock, so you don't do mod's that you would like to do.
Hind sight is 20/20, but if I had it to do all over again I wouldn't have spent the money on the warranty and used the money to put a CAM & headers on the car. My hind sight is also fueled by the fact that I've not had any issues to date. (knock on wood
). Maybe we should start a thread for folks who haven't had any problems since the bought their previously owned Vette.
Good luck what ever way you go and congratulations on your Vette!

that's what I was worried about, most of the issues I've seen are with column lock, ECBM or something that while a pain in the **** can be replaced without much trouble, I've got a CL bypass and like you said I am modifying the car with an intake and exhaust for now and that's it.
03Spiral- do you know if these mods would void your warrantydirect policy? Have you had good dealings with them so far, I know they require an inspection, how did that go?
thanks for the input guys, I would be ok with paying some money for an extended warranty just for peace of mind but anything over $2K seems kinda silly as the parts I've seen people have problems with can be fixed for less (luckily I have friends that can work on cars!)

Read that last sentence over and over. It is true.
