Default x-pipe or no x-pipe

I am going to put Corsa Indy's with Pro tips on my 2001 Z06 - should I put an x-pipe on with it? Have seen discussion that 2001 with pups do not need an x-pipe as they are quieter and will have less popping. I would like an aggressive sound but not obnoxious.
Thanks,
Ron Robertson

If I had Corsa's, I would put on an X pipe to eliminate the motor boat burble at idle

hope that helps

ON my 2001 c5 conv I didnt have the Xpipe. At first I thought it would get annoying after awhile, but instead I found myself smiling whenever I heard that little burble when decelerating.

So if you like that :) However, I think the X pipe will actually smooth out the air flow in the exaust, so that both sides of the system will exale equal amounts...better airflow and probably a tiny bit better performance.

A guy I worked with once said, "I envy you...always wanted a car that sounded like it had these kind of *****, and could back it up". Enjoy them!

I just did this last week.. After a considerable amount of research I came to the conclusion that the X pipe is the way to go. I went to the Corvette Reunion at Ecklers and listened to as many differernt exhaust systems as possible. When it comes to the Corsa Indies with the pro tips (which is what I ended up buying) the X pipe really makes a difference. It makes for a smoother sound all the way around and I believe is worth at least an extra 5 hp or so. Without it you will get excessive popping that may sound cool at first, but after listening to it I felt that it would grind on my nerves over time.

Oh - and get the Magna Flow X Pipe, its less than the Corsa and in my opinion, better built. It fits right up to the Corsa system. Your installer will have to cut just behind the O2 sensor to install it.

I bought my Corsa Indies and Magna Flow X pipe from Shaun at LAPD (see side bar). He charged me $820 for the Corsa's and $199 for the X pipe and included 2 day FedEx shipping for free. I highly recommend him and will be buying my headers from him as soon as I decide which setup I'm going with. You can get his number by clicking on his icon on the right side of this page under "LA Performance Division"

Good luck!
