Yesterday when I was on my break from work I was trying to figure out if when you pull the fuse for the radio antenna if the radio still plays just without the antenna up, unfortunatly it doesnt work, but anyways back to the story, my hood was up and I was looking at the manual to find out where the fuse was (turns out its under the glovebox) and some guy pulls up next to me, probably in his mid 40's would be my guess. He gets out of his car and comes up to me and asks if I'm having car trouble. I respond by telling him what I am doing. Then he says "Thats a really nice car" I say "Thank you". Then something that I never expected was said, the guy goes "What kind of car is that?" I was shocked especially since the hood was up and on the FRCs it has "CORVETTE" in red letters. I said "Really?... It's a corvette" Then he said, "What year is it?" "2000" "Oh, thats nice... you don't really see many of them around anymore"... Is this guy serious, because I see at least 3 vettes, nontheless C5's, on my way to work everyday. I wanted to ask him if he was from America, but I was really shocked and let him go on his way. I may sound like a stupid American but it was hard to believe that he didn't know what a corvette was. But I do appreciate him admiring my car, just in a different way than normal

Since the C6's came out and C5 prices game down to earth I see lots of them around and lots of C6 coups and verts as well. Maybe this guy lived under a rock, who knows.

Just basque in the limelight knowing you have something sooo special they don't even recognize it.
Oh, and pulling the fuse probably killed power to your antenna booster. Try going to the back and unplugging the electrical connection right at the antenna. I did that on my '03 vert before I upgraded the head unit. Now it knows I'm listening to XM and doens't raise the antenna.
Really simple to keep the antenna down and play the radio/cd changer.Remove the panel in the trunk below the antenna. Cut the pink wire and splice in a toggle switch (Radio Shack). That way you can raise the antenna at your discretion.
I was washing my car at the local spray and wash. A couple of guys were in the bay next to me washing their truck when I pulled in. One comes around the corner and watches as I spray it. He makes some comments I can't really hear (still spraying), but I smile and nod to him. I stop spraying, and hear him yelling to his buddy, "You gotta come over and see this Ferrari!!!"
(Now, they're standing at the back of the car with "Corvette" lettering in red...)
In any case, they ask some more questions (which I answer honestly), but are so blown away by my "Ferrari", that I can't bring myself to tell them it's a Vette.
Heck I was at a family outing with the Z06 and all the guys my age were drooling over the car and a while later one of my wifes aunt says that is one nice looking blue corvette pointing at a Buick, I said yeah that is the four door model, her kids corrected her before I could and she was slightly embarrassed. One for the books.....
